Bidfins Limited

We build software, apply AI where it changes the outcome, and back the ventures that come out of it.

Bidfins is a UK software development, applied AI and venture investment company. We design and ship production systems, put machine learning to work inside them, and invest our own capital in the companies we help build.

One team across all three: the engineers who design a system are the ones who run it, and the ventures we back get that same bench behind them.

A registered UK company

Incorporated in England & Wales, company no. 16640626.

Data handled under UK GDPR

Encryption in transit and at rest, least-privilege access, documented retention.

Built and operated in-house

The people who design the system are the people who run it in production.

Practice areas

Three disciplines, deliberately kept together

Most of the value we create sits where these overlap: an AI feature is only useful if the software around it is dependable, and a venture is only worth backing if we would be willing to build it ourselves.

Software development

End-to-end product engineering: architecture, build, release, and the operational work that keeps a system running once real people depend on it.

  • Web and mobile products, APIs, and the data platforms behind them
  • Typed codebases, automated tests, reproducible deployments
  • Security, access control and audit trails designed in from the start

Applied AI

Machine learning placed inside a product where it changes the result — accuracy, throughput, cost, hours returned — and measured on that basis rather than on its presence.

  • Document extraction, retrieval and structured analysis over domain data
  • Risk scoring, anomaly detection and decision support with the reasoning shown
  • Evaluation harnesses, guardrails and stated limits before anything ships

Venture investment

We take long-term positions in early-stage companies we build with or alongside, backing them with engineering as well as capital.

  • Own-balance-sheet investment in ventures we help build
  • Founding and operating roles rather than passive shareholdings
  • Technical diligence, architecture and hiring support after the cheque

How we work

Four commitments that shape every engagement

These are the working rules we hold ourselves to, whether the work is a client build, an internal product, or a company we have invested in.

Start from the outcome

Every engagement begins with the decision or workflow that has to get better, and the measure that will show whether it did. Scope follows from that, not the other way round.

Ship in working increments

Small, releasable pieces in front of real users early. Progress is judged on software running in production, not on documents describing software.

Own the operational reality

Monitoring, backups, incident response and cost control are part of the build, because the day a system goes live is the day the real work starts.

Say what a system cannot do

Especially with AI. Our systems assist qualified people; they support professional judgement rather than replacing it, and we document the boundary in writing.

Where we work

The problems we take on

We are deliberately narrow. These are the settings where our software, data and AI work compounds rather than starting from scratch each time.

Regulated professional services

Accounting, audit, tax and advisory workflows, where evidence, traceability and standards compliance matter as much as the answer itself.

Data-heavy operations

Businesses whose core work is reconciling, checking and reporting on large volumes of records that arrive in inconsistent shapes.

Consumer platforms

Marketplaces and subscription products that need payments, trust and safety, and mobile distribution handled properly from day one.
